Expanding Explorations

We were allowed to make our project overview and parameters for this project. The Sprint that I chose to expand on was the Sprint 5 New Helvetica Neue. The game plan in the project was to develop a past Sprint about crushed ritz cracker alphabet and make them into a baby book. We had over four weeks to plan and design our projects.

Here is my Expanding Explorations overview document. First, I planned the timeline and the parameters for what I needed to cover for my exploration. From here, I began researching examples of baby books online and how they are displayed. So I moved into creating the alphabet from freshly crushed crackers and carefully moved the dust into the shape of every letter, capital, and lowercase. This took around a weekend to complete, which was much shorter than I had planned.

First Version

The first version of the baby book was a simple cover design under construction throughout the process. The pictures used in the book were food and animals represented by the letter. There were both realistic and cartoon photos in the book. After reviewing, I decided to keep natural photos and use food to go with the cracker alphabet.

Final Design

The final design began with the cover change. I designed the cover to match the actual logo of Ritz, with coloring and the place meant by the ABCs. The back cover is a close-up photo of crushed crackers. The content inside keeps the same with the addition of the company’s signature red on the cover. There is still a history of the company RITZ cracker and recipes in the back for parents.
